The route

It's this time again, where I am sitting in the office, bored out of my mind. I was thinking about a lot of crap last night, while watching 7 pounds - The one with Will Smith in. Ant it was a tear jerking show!

I was thinking about the futility of life, and the definition of success. Well, I know that I should be one of the last people talking about success, as for those who know me, I have only recently begun to drag myself into the office, and even then, still spend most of my time lusting for good wind.

Talking to most engineering trained people out there, I came to realize that, rather surprisingly, not many of them actually started off in a job with any resemblance to engineering; well, my friends in school at least. Most buggered off to whomever paid the highest. Well, not that I am terribly motivated, but I am still in the sales line, and not intending to change from this yet. I do enjoy it too much!

I know I veered all over the place with this blog post. I am even confusing myself. Anyhow, an appointment with breakfast calls!

Singaporean oil spill

There was an accident yesterday, off the coast of Singapore - involving a tanker and a bulk carrier. I guess that's in line with international trends... Totally copied from the Gulf of Mexico's sinking of the DEEPWATER HORIZON

Anyhow, according to Bloomberg -

"May 26 (Bloomberg) -- Singapore is stepping up efforts to contain an oil slick that reached its shores a day after a tanker, owned by a unit of MISC Bhd., collided with a bulk carrier near the world’s busiest container port.

“Patches” of oil have affected part of the coastline between Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and Changi Naval Base and between a sailing club and a golf resort, the Maritime and Port Authority said today. The MT Bunga Kelana 3, owned by AET Tanker Holdings Sdn., collided with the bulk carrier MV Waily 13 kilometers (8 miles) southeast of Changi East yesterday."

Stepping up efforts. I didnt see much effort by the local authorities, Whatever they were doing must have been really far out at sea! Well, who am I to say. Whatever it is, I know there's some things keeping me from windsurfing, and I know that for the forseeable future, I am not taking my iSonic out... Back to my old board, till the water clears up a little.

My experience with the iSonic 150

It looked rather promising today, and I decided to take my iSonic out for a spin! HOWEVER, though I was using my 11m sail, the wind had to be a bitch! I was planing for probably close to a whole minute out there, and it was a right pain in the ass trying to keep the nose of the iSonic150 out of the water in marginal conditions! For some reason, going outshore was fine, I was on my merry little way, but coming back, I actually nosedived twice into the water! The nose sank into the back of a wave, and just kept going deeper! I was already watching out for the nose sinking and diving, and still, it was nosediving!

Well, I am hoping for slightly better winds tomorrow, and then, from the recommended settings, I am going to drag the mast base as far back as it'll go, and see how that goes! OR, if the wind is going to be kind so that I dont need to slog my way around, and actually let me get onto a plane, the recommended setting would stay.

I have to say though, (though still baseless with my limited amount of planing time on that board) that the iSonic feels slippery over the surface of the water! It seemed hell a lot faster than my formula!

Fine, here's my sail...

My 11m severne overdrive sail, and all thanks goes out to my darling Clarice, for being so patient and waiting for me to windsurf, and taking these photos! Oh and these are taken on a particularly sad day, where even a formula cant do windsurfing justice!

My new toy!

I just got my new toy, but I didnt take it out today cuz the wind was kinda sad! But still enough for my formula board and 11m sail - thank goodness.

Whatever the case, I do hope that the south westerly winds keep up, and get a tad stronger! Here are the pics! iSonic 150!!! Hell yeah!

iSonic 150!

I am going to go out windsurfing on my iSonic 150 today! Wind permitting of course, Totally stoked! With my new 11m Severne Overdrive sail and iSonic, lets see how that combination goes! Pics will be up real soon, so stay tuned!

Biere

I was reading about cheapest beer in Singapore, and me being me, I had to try it out! I took a drive, and got a carton, and believe me, I'd stick to Breda. This is really a revelation, on how bad beer can really get! Really tastes odd, to say the least.

Why I'd love to work with a company like facebook

Over the past 3 years, it comes as no big surprise that I took the sane route and got myself stuck in a university, and had to endure a dreadful mirage of crap that it dished out to me. Of late though, after exams and all, with a little bit more time in my hands to finally decompress a tad, I've been thinking. I had a dream, we all did. How many people out there would positively say in my face that when they were young, they wanted to be stuck in a cubicle waiting for the end of work everyday? That cant be true eh?

Of course, we wanted to be firemen and policemen and the sort, but as we "mature"/"regress" I suppose something went wrong! Not that that's a bad thing of course, I doubt there are that many fires or kitties stuck in trees to warrant an insanely large fire-fighting force, and honestly, I dont like the fuzz. Never did.

So, back to why I wanna work with a company like facebook. I had a dream, a long time ago, to work with a company, marketing of course ( What else can I do), but not in a firm like the ones I used to work in, but rather, a firm that would really challenge me, doing real marketing, and not pseudo marketing that is merged with mundane nonsense like technical sales! I do think that doing something for a company that has growth and which would allow me to interact with people and the things I like doing would be awesome! Planning cool marketing events and socializing and the sort, would be a real dream!

Oh well, now the only thing left to do is to see if any company would trust a guy without a marketing degree to know what appeals to the commoner. Well, not any company, only ones like facebook.

Fast food!

Check its! While trawling the internet like how I always do, lookie at what I found!

What am I to do?

Well, I suppose that I am at another junction in my life, where I need to decide what I wanna do with my life!

I am sure that most people are thinking the same thing as me, no matter where or what they are doing! I used to work for a few years before going back to school, and yet, truthfully, I haven't yet been fortunate enough to be able to get a job which gave me fulfillment! What is there in a job that would give me a sense of excitement and passion for what I am doing? I feel lost.

Oh well, not that there is any shortage of offers for what I can and want to do, but there just isn't anything that is even remotely challenging and exciting! I was looking around at what my friends around me are doing, and honestly, they are in cubicles, waiting to go home! True, there is a lot more shit that happens between the morning coffee and clock-out time, but what's the difference? Stress, without much fulfillment! Alright, perhaps some people do like chilling out in the office not doing much, but for me, I'd really rather be at home / at the beach!

So well there, this is what's going through my mind, not that I have any solution to that, but if I do, You'd be the first to know. Okay, perhaps not the first, but when I do update this, you'd know!

Cheerio!
