I hope this is a new start

In this relative chaos and with people scrambling to buy groceries in some countries and I am not there to join in the fun, I again find myself on the precipice of hoping that this is the end. Hoping that perhaps a mighty one will demonstrate, enough of your crap.

Had a rather brief conversation, and it went along the line of - the crux of capitalism is that you fend for yourself. Now, you can say that without the threat of peril, the average person will not be motivated to do their best. However, when there is an international disaster, there just isn't a safety net to catch those falling. When in relative peace, there is a healthcare system that is only sufficient to provide with the top few percent with acceptable healthcare, there is definitely not enough to do anything for a meaningful number of people at a time like this.

To justify myself, even in a country like Singapore, I am sure you will know of people or yourself, who has forgone crucial medical procedures because they cant afford it. That was before this. The scale of medical supplies that are necessary now is insurmountable.

I am sure this will only ensure that those that need to die, will die. Those that are lucky enough to survive this will, after a long period of self pity and even more half masts and minutes of silence, will then again forget what this has taught us. That greed is not sustainable.

What I hope for the future is that everyone considers their actions. The world is far too selfish for me not to wish that everyone seriously considers l'appel du vide. And then do it. Or realize that you are part of a colony. Even ants know how to keep all their food together and share. They stand together when needed but fall alone. Realize that each and every one of us now are not even capable of that. We hoard food, we desert collectives that we join or are part of, and should we fall, we drag anyone and everyone in grasp down with us. Learn to be part of a collective.

Just like there is no United Colonies Antland, and no Republic of Creepy-crawlies, we can manage when the collectives are managed and everyone plays their part. And because I know that this is only an imaginary utopia, and for most part, we are all itching to go skiing one last time before everything melts, I wish us all the worst. No last bright burst of light before we burn out, but just darkness as the LED transformer dies.
